Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

Is an international centre of excellence and one of the top children's hospitals in the world.

It provides the most specialist services for children under one roof in the UK, handling over 140,000 patient visits each year from children suffering from the rarest, most complex, and often life threatening problems. The hospital has the third largest children's cancer unit in the world, the largest children's heart transplant programme worldwide and also boasts the largest paediatric research and training centre outside of the US.

With the Institute of Child Health, it's research arm, the hospital has built up an international reputation for pioneering research and treatment. For this reason children are referred to the hospital from all over the UK and abroad because they need the unique combination of experts only provided here at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity faces a major challenge as it fundraises to bring the hospital's facilities up to 21st century standards. Two-thirds of the hospital urgently needs to be rebuilt. In addition to funding this essential redevelopment, the charity also needs to continue to support the ongoing work of the hospital through buying vital up to date equipment, support pioneering research and funding improved facilities to benefit families and staff.

In order to do all the above Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity needs to raise £50 million each year.
